Driving Test Package and Test-Day Car Hire

We pair a one-hour warm-up lesson with a dual-control car we provide for the test itself, plus pick-up and drop-home on the day, with Avin, the same instructor you have learned with, continuing through to test day wherever scheduling allows.

What's included

What Is Included in the Driving Test Package

We pick you up before your test and begin with a one-hour warm-up lesson. This gives you time to settle into the car, calm your nerves and go over a few final skills before arriving at the test centre. You will then use the Skills Beyond dual-control car for the test itself. Once the test is finished, we will drive you home.

We handle it as one booking, so there is no separate car-hire booking to arrange, no unfamiliar hire company to deal with, and no last-minute scramble to find a suitable manual or automatic vehicle for the day. One booking, one car and one instructor, from pick-up to drop-off, built around taking one thing off your plate on an already nervous day.

  • Pick you up before your test
  • A full practice session on roads near the test centre
  • Use of the dual-control car for the test itself
  • Drop-off at home afterwards, pass or not

Familiar ground

Why Test in the Same Car You Learned In

Test day is not the best time to get used to a different clutch, unfamiliar mirrors or a car that handles differently from the one you have practised in.

Using a familiar car means you already know how the steering, brakes, indicators and other controls feel. You can focus on the road and the instructions from the testing officer rather than adjusting to the vehicle.

If you have learned with Avin, our NSW Government certified instructor, from lesson one, he already knows how you drive, which manoeuvres you find hardest, and what you need to hear in the car park before the test to settle your nerves. Test day becomes a continuation of lessons you have already had, rather than a handover to a stranger in a hire car right before the test that decides your licence.

On the day

How Test Day Works

  • 01

    Pick-Up From Home

We start test day with a pick-up from your home, so you are not driving yourself to the test centre or relying on a lift.

  • 02

    Practice on Local Roads

A full practice session on roads near the test centre before you go in, to settle your nerves and run through anything still bothering you.

  • 03

    The Test, Then Home

You sit the test in the same dual-control car. Afterwards Avin drives you home, whether you pass or need to try again.

What to Bring, and What If You Do Not Pass

  • Bring your learner licence, glasses if you wear them to drive, and anything else Transport for NSW asks you to bring for your specific test.
  • If you do not pass on the first attempt, you are in good company. A large share of NSW learners do not pass their first test, and pass rates vary between test centres and routes, so a first attempt that does not go your way is common, not a verdict on your driving.
  • Book it again for your next attempt and you keep the same instructor, the same car and the same warm-up routine, rather than starting over with someone new.
  • Learner drivers cannot drive away alone if they do not pass, so having the car and instructor already arranged takes care of that too.

What our learners say

My instructor drew a plan to help me pass the driving test and gain skills to keep me safe on the roads. Every lesson helped to make me a better driver, I was proud to pass the Driving Test on my first go.

Melissa

Skills Beyond Driving School was responsible for my two other siblings passing the Driving Test on our first attempt. My instructor did a brilliant job, and I passed on my first attempt.

Josie

Learning to drive was nerve-racking. I tried lessons with my parents, and it was hard. After my first lesson with Skills beyond, I was amazed at how easy it was with the right instructor. I now have my P's.

Finn

When I started my driving lessons with Avin, I was 35 and a very nervous driver. Avin is a skilled and competent instructor and mentor, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Skills Beyond to anyone.
