Skills Beyond Driving School

We are a small family-owned business founded over 10 years ago providing lessons to young family members to become competent drivers before doing a driving test.

It’s most enjoyable teaching these skills and watching young drivers progress into good drivers.  Having done stints with the big players like NRMA, LTRENT and others for my own development early on, I strongly believe that my teaching model and service delivery provides the best opportunity to become a safe and competent driver.

OUR COMMITMENT AND TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

The focus is on the individual – we build on skills gradually so as to remove anxiety.  All lessons are done in a controlled environment to minimize risks and build confidence in young drivers.

Only when one skill set has been mastered, do we move onto the next so students don’t feel overwhelmed.  This makes the learning experience fun for both student and instructor.

HOW DO WE PREVENT OR REDUCE ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY NEW DRIVERS DRIVING ALONE FOR THE FIRST TIME WITHOUT ASSISTANCE

To pass your driving license is a big deal. However, our commitment goes beyond that.  We know that the accident risk increases exponentially once young drivers do not have mum, dad or an instructor next to them.  This is why our teaching is designed to put you in charge to make good decisions early in your learning.  This ensures that nothing feels brand new the day you have to drive alone for the first time and this minimizes the risk of an accident.

CHOICE OF VEHICLE WHEN LEARNING (MANUAL OR AUTO)

You have the option of a manual or automatic vehicle – however learning in a manual car demands focus and lends itself to students becoming better drivers early in their progression.

There is no additional cost to learning in a manual and you are free to use an automatic car to further your hours or take a test in an automatic if you choose to.

IMPORTANCE OF USING A PROFESSIONAL DRIVING INSTRUCTOR

We encourage lessons with a driving instructor from the get-go. This way you learn and practice the correct driving methods that your instructor has taught you – mum or dad are only there to sit beside you holding a full license which is a legal requirement while you practise.  We also suggest parents take young drivers onto the roads once a professional instructor is satisfied with their skill levels.

YOU WILL ONLY NEED TO DO THIS ONCE IN YOUR LIFE – DO IT RIGHT

We have discounted packages to choose from that will help ingrain skills so they become second nature.

You will not pass a driving test in NSW being under prepared – the RMS insist on a very high percentage pass mark with minimum mistakes before you are issued with a driving license.

Generally, students need between 10 and 15 lessons with an instructor to becoming. This will also entitle you to 30 hours recorded time in your logbook.

The sooner you book your lessons the better.
